The mural on the side of Leland’s maintenance building is meant to represent the meaning behind the new village motto. Last year, the village board voted on a new logo and motto for the village. Even though several towns use the motto “A place to
grow,” it seems very fitting for Leland, also
Our town is surrounded by rich, fertile farmland that has been the backbone of our community for many generations. Not only is Leland a great place to cultivate the soil, but it is also a great place to raise a family. With its close-knit community and family values, Leland is an ideal environment to nurture the next generation.
With a dedicated Planning Board and a great group of dedicated community members, Leland is also poised for potential economic development. The mural includes our new logo along with the Leland skyline as viewed from 4650th Road. There are crops and a crop duster to represent our agriculture and people in various stages of life to illustrate different community members. The only actual citizens are our beloved Bob and Peggy Shumway. Bob was born in Leland and has lived here his entire life. Bob and Peg are a perfect representation of a great Leland family.
Leland is a great place to grow agriculture, a family and our economy. The mural is a window to our past and present, and our motto “A great place to grow” points forward to a promising future.
